Help children receive healthy food all summer long!

Did you know?

In New Hampshire, 1 in 5 children are at risk of going hungry ─ they will spend their summers worrying about when they’ll get their next meal instead of having fun with their friends.  Many Granite State families rely on free and reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year.  With school about to break for the summer months, these children and their families are faced with having to provide these added meals to their already limited budgets.  Steady nutrition and a healthy diet are critical to growing bodies and developing minds.  Children who are food insecure are at risk of poor physical development and socialization and have a greater chance of dropping out of school.

35% of the members of households served by the New Hampshire Food Bank are children under the age of 18.

To help ensure that these children have nutritious food to eat all summer long,  we ask that you consider helping out by making three separate donations ─  in June, July and August. Your gifts will go a long way toward feeding hungry children during the summer months.

A typical lunch may include: turkey on whole-wheat bread, green salad with ranch dressing, an apple, graham crackers and milk.

We are working with partners throughout New Hampshire to set up sites at youth serving organizations such as community and recreation centers.  In 2013, we provided more than 6,363 meals for children through these programs. Children and their families also receive food from our member agencies throughout the state.
