TITLE: Operation Frontline Volunteer Class Coordinator

Operation Frontline (OFL), program of the New Hampshire Food Bank, is a national nutrition education and financial planning program developed by Share Our Strength to address the root causes of hunger. OFL promotes short and long-term solutions to hunger by mobilizing volunteers to teach people important life skills like cooking, food budgeting, nutrition, sanitation and financial planning skills needed to make healthy food and financial decisions on a limited budget.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary role of this volunteer position is to facilitate Operation Frontline classes in the Seacoast area and ensure quality programming.

Included responsibilities

• Work as a team with OFL Program Coordinator and volunteer instructors
• Communicate weekly with OFL Program coordinator, volunteer instructors, and class host agency in preparation for class.
• Ensure classes start and end on time
• Record participant attendance
• Ensure topics of curriculum are covered by volunteer instructors
• Purchase food for classes (with reimbursement)
• Coordinate procurement of food and class materials with OFL Coordinator
• Bring materials and supplies to classes

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Available for weekly and bi-weekly communications with OFL Coordinator
• Experience in public speaking (small groups)
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people
• Personal vehicle to drive to class
• Ability to lift 30 lbs
• Time commitment: ~ 30hrs/class series. (Classes meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks, 2hrs/class, ~ 3 hrs for communications, class prep and breakdown.)
