Manchester area hunters donate to the NH Food Bank

Local wildlife and sports center is asking deer hunters to donate their fees

Manchester, N.H. —Hunters in Greater Manchester are helping the New Hampshire Food Bank fill its pantries this holiday season.

The Wildlife Taxidermy and Sports Center in Manchester is asking hunters to donate their $2 registration fee for each tagged deer to the food bank instead of submitting it to the center.

But Judy Wadleigh of Wildlife Taxidermy and Sports Center says many hunters are donating more than the suggested amount. So far this year, the center has raised $13,000 for the food bank.

“It’s a wonderful feeling. We know the food bank really needs the money. The food donations are very important, but the money, they can quadruple it to turn it into that much more food,” Wadleigh said.

The sports center raised $32,000 for the food bank in 2013. This year’s fundraiser will run through deer hunting season.
